AL DOWNING JAZZ EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION

The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association, Inc. (ADTBJA) is pleased to present a very special Monday Night Jazz Hour on April 12, the Al Downing Jazz Education Scholarship Competition! Every year, high school seniors have the opportunity to compete live in front of a panel of judges.

Competing this year are pianist Charlee Loyst from St Petersburg Collegiate High School, vibraphonist Ben Dunham from Tarpon Springs High School, drummer Nick Love from Lakewood High School, and drummer Joel Bolds from Northside Christian. Prizes range from $500 for fifth place, $750 for fourth place, $1,000 for third place, $1,500 for second place, and $2,000 for first place.

Performing with the finalists will be the renowned trio, La Lucha, featuring John O’Leary on keys, Alejandro Arenas on bass, and Mark Feinman on Drums.

ADTBJA is a 501c3 non-profit organization. One of our missions is to provide scholarships to talented young jazz musicians who are looking to focus on music and jazz in college. We can continue to make our scholarship program a success with your donation, which is tax deductible.
