Jazz gives us so much more than great music!

• Its historical origins remind us of America’s beautifully diverse cultural heritage

• Its improvisational core stokes the imagination of musicians, building their skill and comradery for a lifetime

• And, this uniquely American music art form unites us all, young and old, into a “jazz family” with appreciation for jazz’s musical depth and dimension.

Founded by legendary jazz musician Al Downing and friends more than 50 years ago, Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association (ADTBJA) exists to preserve, celebrate and grow jazz appreciation for generations to come. We accomplish this through:

• Jazz awareness and education

• Skills training

• Live entertainment and events

Inspiring and Supporting Youth is Core to ADTBJA Programming!

• Offering students a training pathway from grade school to post-secondary education

• Nurturing positive, healthy relationships with peers and mentors, building self-discipline and confidence.

ADTBJA is all volunteer, allowing 100% of your generosity to support programming. Here’s how contributions help inspire more youth toward jazz:

$1,000: Continuing education scholarships for top students

$500: One monthly youth jazz jam

$250: One weekly group jazz lesson

$100: Event expense for each ADTBJA musician

Join in and help us bring this art form to young people, and ensure its future!
